Subscription memberships now available – powered by Stripe

In response to customer feedback, we’re delighted to advise that association customers can now offer subscription-based membership through Membes AMS.

Associations using the Stripe payment gateway can now offer their members automatic renewal on various memberships durations - from one month to a year or even more.

This is in addition to the existing annual membership options available:

  • Upon anniversary –memberships expire and become due for renewal one year from their joining date.
  • Cyclical – all memberships expire and renew on the same date each year.

How it works

  • Subscription memberships can be set for various durations, from one month to a year or more.
  • The association sets the membership duration in accordance with the member’s preference.
  • The association can nominate the number of reminder notifications that are issued to the member (up to a maximum of 6), and the number of days prior to the payment being processed that these are received.
  • A system generated renewal notification is issued to the member advising the date a membership payment will be processed.
  • The member has the option to click through to their member profile if they wish to cancel their membership or update their payment method.

The recent improved Stripe-Membes integration has made it possible for Membes to offer this additional membership option smoothy and efficiently. Hence, subscription memberships are only available through the Stripe payment gateway.

If you are currently using another payment gateway but would like to offer subscription memberships, you may wish to consider switching to Stripe to take advantage of the benefits available.

Benefits to you, benefits for your members

For members:

  • It’s one less bill to remember amongst the pile of personal admin. No action needed; their membership automatically renews.
  • It makes it easier to budget. With members continuing to quote budget constraints as one of the top reasons for non-renewal, smaller, more frequent payments can be easier to manage than single lump sums.

Associations:

  • Less work for the team in following up on renewals.
  • Potential improvements in member retention due to the convenience of automatic renewal and more affordable smaller payments.

Take a look at the Membes User Guide and please don’t hesitate to visit the Membes Support Hub if you need extra assistance.
