Maximise your reporting tools for strong future planning

Associations have a strong need for detailed reports that provide an understanding of exactly what is happening and what needs to be improved to ensure resources are being used effectively. Reporting tools can monitor anything from member engagement, financial performance, event success and key interest areas for members.

The ability to pull comprehensive reports will allow associations to make stronger strategic decisions based on evidence. This is also highly useful when speaking to boards as they can see the insight firsthand.

After every campaign, or at key milestones like renewals, reports should be created covering all the metrics including active membership numbers, 1

We have gathered some tips to help you maximise your reporting tools to allow you and your team to understand what is happening within your association and for your members:

  1. Real-time data: By investing in quality systems you will be able to track and monitor real-time data which will help your team make the best decisions based on the latest information.

  2. Data segmentation: The more segmented your data is, the greater ability you have to pull detailed reporting and understand what is happening in each niche area of your association. This level of detail will allow you to develop strong strategies for each segment of your audience, e.g. for those in the first year of their career, practitioners in rural communities, etc.
  3. Stay across trends: As your team creates reports for different campaigns you will be able to see trends and compare their performance over the years. Having the real-time data option will also allow your team to track these trends as they happen.
  4. Tailored reports: Within your Association Management System (AMS) there are various reporting tools available to help you create exactly what you need. These include different filters, groupings and metrics to allow you to create tailored reports.
  5. Act on data: By collecting all of this information and creating detailed reports it is important that the insights gained from them are utilised and implemented to enhance future efforts. There is always room for improvement and always ways to elevate campaigns to deliver stronger results.

Reporting can be time intensive but with a strong AMS you will be able to easily pull together information to create comprehensive reports. It is important to constantly evaluate performance to ensure you are working effectively towards your association’s goals.

Having a detailed understanding of the effectiveness of your campaigns and overall member engagement will allow you to build strong plans for the future to continually deliver for your members.
